Join Our Team as a Clinical Development Veterinarian

Are you an experienced Small Animal Veterinarian (DVM) who is passionate about mentoring, coaching, and developing the next generation of veterinary professionals? We're seeking a Clinical Development Veterinarian (Mentorship Veterinarian) based in Dallas, Texas, to support the continued growth and clinical excellence of our hospitals throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and surrounding region.

This unique veterinary leadership role combines hands-on clinical practice with mentorship, professional development, and regional support. You'll play a key role in helping veterinarians build confidence in medicine, surgery, and dentistry while continuing to provide exceptional patient care at your home hospital.

As a Clinical Development Veterinarian, you'll divide your time between practicing medicine at your home hospital and traveling throughout the surrounding region to mentor veterinarians, strengthen clinical teams, and support our WVP Launch Mentorship Program.

Location: Dallas, Texas (Home Hospital)

Territory: Dallas-Fort Worth and surrounding regional hospitals

Travel: Regional travel up to 50% to support hospitals, veterinary teams, students, and mentorship initiatives.

Time Allocation:
  • Approximately 50% Clinical Practice
  • Approximately 50% Veterinary Mentorship, Coaching, Leadership, and Professional Development

Key Responsibilities

Provide High-Quality Small Animal Veterinary Care
  • Deliver exceptional medical and surgical care for companion animals.
  • Maintain an active clinical caseload in general practice.
  • Demonstrate excellent clinical judgment and evidence-based veterinary medicine.
  • Perform routine and advanced soft tissue surgery with confidence.
  • Support high-quality veterinary dentistry and promote comprehensive oral health care.
  • Model outstanding client communication and patient care.
  • Serve as a trusted clinical leader and resource for veterinary teams.


Mentor and Develop Veterinarians

As a Veterinary Mentor, you'll help doctors grow both clinically and professionally by providing individualized coaching and support.

Responsibilities include:
  • Mentor early-career and experienced veterinarians.
  • Coach DVMs in medical decision-making and clinical reasoning.
  • Support growth in surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, and case management.
  • Improve medical record quality and workflow efficiency.
  • Help veterinarians strengthen communication with clients and hospital teams.
  • Provide real-time case consultations and clinical coaching.
  • Create personalized professional development plans.
  • Foster confidence through constructive feedback and hands-on learning.

Support Surgical and Dental Mentorship

Help veterinarians become confident surgeons and dental practitioners by:
  • Coaching surgical planning and case selection.
  • Providing hands-on surgical mentorship.
  • Reviewing surgical techniques and post-operative outcomes.
  • Promoting participation in WVP Dental U.
  • Helping doctors expand veterinary dental services within their hospitals.
  • Encouraging best practices in anesthesia, pain management, and dentistry.

Strengthen the WVP Launch Mentorship Program

Support our structured Veterinary Mentorship Program by:
  • Guiding newly graduated veterinarians through onboarding.
  • Partnering with in-hospital mentors.
  • Monitoring clinical progress and professional growth.
  • Identifying strengths and opportunities for development.
  • Recommending additional educational resources when needed.
  • Helping ensure long-term success and career satisfaction.

Engage Veterinary Students and Externs

Build the future of veterinary medicine by:
  • Meeting with veterinary students and externs.
  • Supporting clinical learning experiences.
  • Introducing students to career opportunities within WVP.
  • Helping identify future veterinary talent.
  • Sharing mentorship opportunities and career development resources.

Drive Veterinary Leadership and Program Development

Partner with clinical and operational leaders to strengthen veterinary education and mentorship initiatives.

Responsibilities include:
  • Improving onboarding and mentorship programs.
  • Supporting continuing veterinary education.
  • Enhancing doctor engagement and retention.
  • Evaluating mentorship outcomes and program effectiveness.
  • Collaborating on initiatives that improve clinical consistency across hospitals.
  • Helping grow WVP Launch, Dental U, surgical mentorship, and externship programs.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced veterinarian who is passionate about coaching others, advancing veterinary medicine, and supporting the professional growth of fellow DVMs.

Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary school.
  • Active veterinary license (or ability to obtain licensure in Texas and other applicable states within the region).
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Dallas, Texas, with the ability to support hospitals throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and surrounding region.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in small animal general practice.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, teaching, or developing veterinarians.
  • Strong clinical proficiency in small animal medicine, surgery, and dentistry, with a passion for helping others build their clinical skills.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and coaching abilities.
  • Ability to inspire confidence and build trust with veterinarians at all stages of their careers.
  • Collaborative leadership style with a commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and clinical excellence.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regionally up to 50% to support hospitals, mentors, veterinary students, externs, and clinical development programs.

Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
