Job DetailsWe are seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join a busy Dallas litigation practice. This position is well suited for a Texas-licensed attorney with approximately 5–10 years of experience who has handled complex civil litigation or has a strong interest in expanding within one or more of the following areas:
- First-party and third-party insurance coverage
- Construction defect and construction litigation
- Professional liability
- Business and commercial litigation
- Medical malpractice
- Premises liability
- Trucking and transportation litigation
The attorney will work closely with partners and senior associates while managing substantive responsibilities throughout the life of each case.
Responsibilities:
- Provide clients with practical legal advice and strategic case guidance
- Evaluate liability, damages, coverage issues, defenses, and potential exposure
- Conduct legal research and prepare written analyses
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, reports, and other litigation documents
- Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives
- Attend hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and other court proceedings
- Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution
- Manage discovery, experts, deadlines, and case-development strategy
- Assist with trial preparation and courtroom advocacy
- Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on complex litigation matters
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, recommendations, and resolution strategy
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active Texas Bar license in good standing
- Approximately 5–10 years of practicing attorney experience
- Civil litigation, insurance defense, commercial litigation, or related defense experience preferred
- Experience or demonstrated interest in one or more of the listed practice areas
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
- Experience handling discovery, depositions, mediation, and motion practice
- State and federal court experience preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and client-service abilities
- Ability to manage matters independently while working effectively with a team
Salary: $140,000–$190,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and relevant practice-area background.
